My name is Chris Tharp, and despite the fact that I’ve called Asia home for some years now, American politics has still got its hooks in me. I just can’t look away. This is a place for me to concentrate my frequent rantings on the subject, as well as opine and reflect on the big stories happening elsewhere around the globe.
I teach English to college students by day, and also write. My stuff has appeared in print and, more often, online. I’m a former playwright and the author of two books: Dispatches from the Peninsula: Six Years in South Korea (2011) and The Worst Motorcycle in Laos: Rough Travels in Asia (2014), both published by Signal 8 Press out of Hong Kong. I’m the co-founder of the award-winning group blog Sweet Pickles & Corn and am currently writing a book with MMA legend Jeff “The Snowman” Monson about his life and career.
I live in Busan, South Korea, with my wife and a whole lot of animals.
